The library of "James Middleton, late of Lancashire, Esq." - who has not been identified - was sold by retail sale in London, together with that of "a learned gentleman of Oxfordshire deceased", beginning 17 June 1726. No catalogue survives, but the sale was advertised in the Daily Post.
