Books
Lloyd's brief will, which refers to difficult 'present circumstances', has no mention of books. Twelve years after his death, his books were auctioned in London at Tom’s Coffee House by John Bullord, commencing 6 February 1699. The 60-page auction catalogue lists 2584 lots, the vast majority being 17th century imprints. The books are listed principally one title per lot, divided into 6 sections, chiefly subdivided by format (folio, quarto, octavo &c.): theology in Latin (496 lots), ‘Miscellany’ in Latin [all other topics] (630), English divinity (615), ‘Miscellany’ in English [all other topics] (789), ‘Livres Francois, en 8vo &c’ (24), and, lastly, 26 lots of book catalogues dating from 1650 to 1697, some bound up in one volume, some single, and some as a 'bundle of stich'd catalogues’.
