Biographical Note
BA Queen's College, Oxford 1656, MA 1659. Vicar of Stixwold, Lincolnshire 1666, rector of Scrayfield 1671; archdeacon of Bedford 1679, master of St John's Hospital, Northampton 1682, canon of Lincoln 1683.
Books
Skelton's library was sold by auction in London, 13 November 1704. The sale catalogue contains 2342 lots, including a final section of 471 labelled as "A collection of English books", which possibly came from a separate source. the remainder are subdivided between Latin theology, philology, etc (372 lots); Latin law (35); Latin medicine (16); Latin mathematics (17); Latin classics (60); Latin miscellaneous (135); French and Italian books (182); English theology, history and miscellaneous (860); and common law (64).
