Sir Robert SINCLAIR of Longformacus, 3rd Baronet, 1676-1727

Biographical Note

The baronetcy of Longformacus in the County of Berwick, was created in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia on 10 December 1664 for Robert Sinclair. Longformacus is a village in Berwickshire. His son, John Sinclair, died after 1696 and was succeeded by Sir Robert Sinclair, the 3rd baronet, who died in 1727. He is recorded as a member of the Scottish Parliament for Berwickshire, 1703-1707.

Books

Used an engraved bookplate (Franks 27010) which Franks records as 'anonymous' and which he identifies (presumably from the arms) as 'Sinclair of Longformacus Bart.'

The extent and disposition of his library is not known.
