Sir John SCHAW or Shaw of Greenock, 3rd baronet, ca.1679-1752
Biographical Note
The eldest son of Sir John Schaw, 2nd Baronet (d.1693) who was a member of the Scottish Parliament, he was educated at Glasgow University (1693). He sat in the British Parliament from 1708 to 1710 and 1722 to 1734. One of his main preoccupations was the development of a port at Greenock. He supported the Hanoverian succession in 1714 and opposed the Jacobite incursion the following year. The baronetcy became extinct on his death.

Used an engraved bookplate (Franks 26215/*520): Sr. John Schaw of Greenoak Baronet.
The extent and disposition of his library is not known.
