Zachary CRADOCK or CRADDOCK 1632/3-1695
Biographical Note
Son of Samuel Cradock, vicar of Greetham, Rutland. BA Emmanuel College, Cambridge 1651, MA 1654, fellow of Queens' College 1654, BD 1661, DD 1666. Chaplain to the English merchant community in Lisbon 1657; he returned to London in the 1660s where ne became a chaplain to the King, and preacher at Gray's Inn. Canon of Chichester 1670, fellow of Eton College 1671, where he became provost in 1681. He was noted for his skills as a preacher.
Books
In his will, Cradock bequeathed to Thomas Richardson, also a fellow of Eton, "ten volumes in folio of the works of Cujacius and all my books of the English law'. Any other books would have been part of the residue of his estate, inherited by his brother John. Those books were auctioned in London, 25 years after his death, neginning 4 April 1720; no catalogue survives, but the sale was advertised in several newspapers.
