Biographical Note
Born in Cheshire. BA Brasenose College, Oxford 1656, MA (Cambridge) 1664. Rector of Ashton upon Mersey, Cheshire, 1662, of Charlwood, Surrey from 1663 until his death. Vicar of St Helen, Bishopsgate, and chaplain to Charles II, 1678. He was also made a chaplain to William III and in 1690 was nominated, but not consecrated, as Bishop of Killala in Ireland. A number of his sermons were published between the 1670s and 1690s.
Books
In his will, Hesketh directed that his study of books should go to his daughter Elizabeth Willis. His library was sold by retail sale in London, beginning 20 June 1712; no catalogue survives, but the sale was advertised in the Daily Courant.
