Henry MOORE 1680/1-1770

Biographical Note

Born at Drogheda, Ireland, son of Henry Hamilton-Moore, 3rd Earl of Drogheda and Mary (Cole). Entered Trinity College, Dublin 1700; BA 1703; LLD 1710; DD 1715. Ordained in 1704; Rector of East Woodhay, Hampshire, 1708; Rector of Wilmslow and Malpas, Cheshire 1713 until his death, where according to a parishioner he was ‘never but twice in the parish, and these times only a day or two each time’, his main residence being in St James’s, London. Married Catherine Knatchbull, Lady Rooke.

Books

He used an engraved armorial bookplate (‘The Honble. And Reverend Henry Moore, A.M.’) dated 1708: Franks *492.

The content of his library is not established.

In his will he bequeathed ‘all my Books and Manuscripts’ to his son-in-law Pulter Forester, Archdeacon of Buckingham.
