Ambrose BARKER d.1583

Biographical Note

Son of Ambrose Barker of Chigwell, Essex. BA Christ's College, Cambridge 1571/2, fellow 1573, MA 1575, and BD 1582. He was ordained deacon and priest in 1573.

Books

Barker's probate inventory includes over 135 books, valued at £24 16s 3d (from a total estate valued at £57 2s 8d). The books are mostly in Latin, with some Hebrew, English, Italian, French and Greek. His books were predominantly theological, alongside some literature, lexicography, and grammar.
