====Biographical Note====
Born at [[place of birth::Hatfield, Yorkshire]], son of [[family::Mathias Pryme]], [[occupation::yeoman]]. BA [[education::St John's College, Cambridge]] 1694. [[occupation::Curate]] of [[location::Broughton, Lincolnshire]] 1695; [[occupation::curate]] of Holy Trinity, [[location::Hull]] 1698; [[occupation::vicar]] of [[location::Thorne, Yorkshire]] 1701. His interests in history and antiquities began during his childhood and he continued, throughout his life, to undertake, write up and selectively publish antiquarian research. Fellow of the Royal Society, 1702, proposed by [[associates::Hans Sloane]].

Pryme is listed in [[crossreference::Edward Bernard 1638-1697|Edward Bernard]]'s [[book title::''Catalogi manuscriptorum'']], [[date of publication::1697]], as owning a small number of [[format::manuscript|manuscripts]]; many of these passed after his death to the [[occupation::herald]] [[subsequent owner::John Warburton]], and are now among the Lansdowne MSS at the [[present repository::British Library]].
