====Biographical Note====
Eldest son of [[family::Henry Babington]] of [[location::Dethick, Derbyshire]] and [[family::Mary Darcy|Mary]], daughter of [[family::George, Lord Darcy]]. Executed for plotting to kill Elizabeth I and free Mary Stewart, Queen of Scots. When the "Babington Plot" was uncovered, it led to the execution of not only ints conspirators, but also their intended queen.

An inventory of books in his house in 1586 (transcribed and edited as PLRE 242) included 33 books.
