Charles BALE 1692-1730

Biographical Note

Son of Charles Bale, apothecary, of London. MB Jesus College, Cambridge 1716, MD 1717. Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians 1719, censor 1723; he delivered the Harveian Oration in 1729. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1719, and physician to the Charterhouse in 1725. He predeceased his father, who died in 1732 and whose will refers to him.

Books

Bale's library was auctioned in London in two sales, beginning 21 January and 12 April 1731; the second sale was a joint one with the books of Ezekiel Lyon.
