====Biographical Note====
Second son of [[family::Henry Bertie]] of [[location::Chesterton, Oxfordshire]], and grandson of [[family::Montagu Bertie]], 2nd Earl of Lindsey. Matriculated at [[education::Hart Hall, Oxford]] 1711; BA [[education::Magdalen College, Oxford|Magdalen College]] 1715, MA 1718; [[occupation::rector]] of [[location::Uffington, Lincolnshire]] 1719-44.

Bertie used an engraved armorial bookplate, noting him as "of Hart Hall" (Franks 2376); the extent and disposition of his library are not known.
