====Biographical Note====
Son of [[family::Edmund Clerke]] of [[location::Hungerford Park, Berkshire]]. Matriculated at [[education::Trinity College, Cambridge]] 1697, but did not graduate; he is assumed to be the Edmund Clerke, son of Edmund, [[occupation::merchant]] of [[location::London]] who was admitted at the [[organisations::Inner Temple]] in 1709. His subsequent career has not been traced.

====Books====
Clerke used an engraved armorial bookplate, which looks to date from ca.1720-30 (Franks 5918); the extent and disposition of his library is not known.
