====Biographical Note====
Son of Sir [[family::Edward Burton]], of [[location::Sussex]]. BA [[education::Magdalen Hall, Oxford]] 1616, MA [[education::Magdalen College, Oxford|Magdalen College]] 1619, BD and DD 1629. [[occupation::rector|Rector]] of [[location::Seddlescombe, Sussex]] 1628, of [[location::Westham]] 1638, of [[location::Broadwater]] 1649; [[occupation::chaplain]] to [[associates::Charles I]].  

====Books====
Two books with an armorial stamp attributed to him are recorded in the Armorials Database. Are they his, or from another member of his family? His father, the knight, seems a more obvious candidate, but he died in 1638, and the imprint dates of the books are 1634 and 1639. Edward's brother [[family::Nicholas Burton|Nicholas]], a physician, d.1637. The arms are Burton quartered with [[family::Tawke]].
