Edward PEARSON 1563-1619

Biographical Note

Of Howden, Yorkshire, where he was churchwarden, 1594-97; his occupation is unknown, but the PLRE editors suggest he may have had some kind of legal function (based on some relevant books of his). He had a brother and half-brother who were butchers.

Books

Pearson noted on the flyleaf of a copy of J. Jewel, A replie unto M. Hardinges answeare, 1566, now in York Minster Library, a list of ca. 60 books which he owned in 1604, with valuations. These are all (or almost all) in English, and include a high proportion of theological/devotional titles, alongside a small sprinkling of literary, historical, household and legal books. Examples: York Minster Library XV.C.12.
