====Biographical Note====
Born at [[place of birth::Barnby, Yorkshire]], son of [[family::Thomas Blythe]]. [[occupation::fellow of King's College, Cambridge|Fellow of King's College, Cambridge]] 1518, BA 1520, MA 1523, DCL 1529. [[occupation::canon|Canon]] of [[organisations::Lichfield Cathedral|Lichfield]] 1520, [[occupation::warden]] of [[organisations::King's Hall, Cambridge]] 1528. He held other ecclesiastical livings, and travelled to [[location::Louvain]] in the early 1520s.

====Books====
Blythe's probate inventory includes 191 titles, in 228 volumes, valued at £15 10s 7d (from a total estate valued at ca.£104). The books are almost entirely [[language::Latin]], with a few in [[language::Greek]] or [[language::English]], and include works by Chaucer, Gower and Boccaccio among the predominance of [[subject::theology]] with some  [[subject::classics]], [[subject::philosophy]], and other subjects. His goods included vestments, armour, and rich apparel. The full inventory is edited as Leedham-Green no.11 (see full citation below).
