George DAY -1697
Biographical Note
BA Hart Hall, Oxford 1657, MA 1660. Vicar of Wiveliscombe, Somerset 1661, ejected 1662; he remained in the Somerset area as an independent minister, where he was sometimes prosecuted, before being licensed to preach as a Presbyterian in Wiveliscombe in 1672. He later moved to London to become pastor of a congregation at Ratcliff, Middlesex. His Communicants instructor was published in 1692 (2nd edn, 1700) and A persuasive to full communion appeared posthumously in 1698.
Books
In his will, Day directed that his library should be partly divided among seven poor scholars designed for the ministry, on condition that the books be returned if they die, or leave the nonconformist tradition of worship.
