George SHEPHEARD 1688/9-1731

Biographical Note

Son of John Shepheard, of Hellins, Herefordshire, gentleman. BA Trinity College, Oxford 1709, fellow, MA 1712, proctor 1719, BD 1721. He became keeper of the Ashmolean Museum in 1729 but died of smallpox not long afterwards.

Books

Shepheard used an engraved armorial bookplate (Franks 26670); the extent and disposition of his library is not known.
