Guy VANE 1681-1730

Biographical Note

Son of George Vane of Holborn, London. Matriculated at St John's College, Cambridge 1699, but did not graduate; he was admitted at Gray's Inn in 1705, and subsequently moved to Lincolns Inn.

Books

Vane's library was auctioned in London, beginning 17 November 1730; no catalogue survives, but the sale was advertised in the Daily Journal as "a small, but curious collection of common and statute law, and other valuable miscellanies". Vane's will has no mention of books; his property was mostly divided between his mother and two sisters, with the former receiving all the residue of his goods and chattels.
