====Biographical Note====
Born at [[place of birth::Chevington, Suffolk]]; son of [[family::Robert Paman]]. Entered [[education::Emmanuel College, Cambridge]] in 1643. He graduated BA from [[education::St John’s College, Cambridge]] in 1646 and was elected a [[occupation::fellow]] in the same year. Incorporated MA at [[organisations::University of Oxford|Oxford]] on 11 July 1655. Appointed [[occupation::senior proctor]] in 1656, graduated MD in 1658, MD in 1669. He was appointed [[occupation::professor]] of physic at [[organisations::Gresham College, Oxford|Gresham College]] and elected a [[occupation::fellow]] of the [[organisations::Royal Society]] in 1679. Elected a [[occupation::fellow]] at the [[organisations::Royal College of Physicians]] in 1687. Graduated LLD in 1684 and subsequently appointed [[occupation::Master of the Faculties]] at the [[organisations::University of Cambridge]].

====Books====
Paman [[bequest::bequeathed]] his library (with an additional [[monetary value::£50]] to buy books), containing many [[subject::medicine|medical]] and other books, to [[beneficiary::St John’s College, Cambridge]]. Made further bequests to Emmanuel College, the Royal College of Physicians, and his native parish.
