James MACKENZIE 1671-1744

Biographical Note

Son of George Mackenzie, 1st Earl of Cromartie. He was created a Baronet by Queen Anne, as Sir James Mackenzie of Royston, in 1704. In 1710, he was created a Lord of the Session. He married Elizabeth Mackenzie, daughter of Sir George Mackenzie of Rosehaugh and had issue.

Books

His library was sold at auction on 12th November 1746 by Kinnaid in Edinburgh. A copy of the auction catalogue survives at Glasgow University (Mu34 c.23.)
