John DUNTON 1628-1676

Biographical Note

Of Buckinghamshire. BA Trinity College, Cambridge 1649. Rector of Grafham, Huntingdonshire 1650; went to Ireland 1660 as chaplain to Sir Henry Ingoldsby. Rector of Aston Clinton, Buckinghamshire 1668; father of the bookseller of the same name.

Books

Dunton's library was auctioned in London, 29.11.1680, as part of a joint sale with the books of Henry Stubb and three others; the sale catalogue runs to over 13,000 lots but does not distinguish which books came from which source.
