Biographical Note

Son of Matthew Postlethwaite of Millom, Cumberland. BA Merton College, Oxford 1675, MA 1678. Master of Archbishop Tenison's School, St Martin in the Fields; High Master of St Paul’s School, London 1697.

Books

Postlethwaite's library was auctioned in London, 13.4.1714. The sale catalogue contains 1582 lots, divided between Latin, Greek, Hebrew, Chaldee, Syriac and Arabic books in theology, history and other subjects (617), miscellaneous Latin and Greek books including medicine and mathematics (765), English theological, historical and miscellaneous books (175), and various "libri omissi" (25).
