Biographical Note

Son of Thomas Scamler, curate of Icklingham, Suffolk. BA Clare College, Cambridge 1664; fellow 1664, MA 1667. Vicar of Everton, Huntingdonshire 1679, of Eaton, Norfolk 1687; rector of Shenfield, Essex 1694-1706.

Books

Scamler’s library was sold by auction in London by Thomas Ballard, beginning 18 November 1706. The catalogue includes 1457 lots, divided between Greek and Latin books (744), French (34) and English (679).
