Stillington used an engraved armorial bookplate dated 1700 (Franks *538); the extent and disposition of his library is not known.

In his will, he left to Jesus College such books of his as were thought worthy of acceptance, plus a further £20 for the purchase of books. These books were to have his name written at the front. Joseph Stillington's bookplate (British Museum Franks Collection *538)

Biographical Note

Son of Thomas Stillington of Kelfield, Yorkshire. BA Jesus College, Cambridge 1690, MA 1693, fellow of Jesus College from 1694 until his death. Vicar of Hinxton, Cambridgeshire.

Books

Stillington used an engraved armorial bookplate dated 1700 (Franks *538). In his will, he left to Jesus College such books of his as were thought worthy of acceptance, plus a further £20 for the purchase of books. These books were to have his name written at the front. Any books not selected were to be disposed of at his executor's discretion; it is not known how many books the College took.
