Katherine NORTH fl.1729

Biographical Note

Fourth (?) daughter of the lawyer, politician and writer Roger North and Mary Gayer of Rougham, Norfolk. Her role in her musical family's life is suggested by her father's bequest to her of a 'lesser harpsicord and frame with the second Violin'. On his father's death she probably came under the guardianship of her cousin, Francis North.

Books

She had a printed book label ('E Libris / Katherine North / Her Book 17 ')(Lee 494), similar in style of that used by her brother Montague. An example in the Franks Collection has the manuscript completion of '29' to indicate a year of acquisition.
