Sir Nicholas MORICE, 2nd Bt. 1681-1726

Morice's bookplate (British Museum Franks Collection *126)

Biographical Note

Son of Sir William Morice, 1st Bart and Elizabeth (Reynell) of Werrington, Devon. Matriculated at Exeter College, Oxford in 1698. MP for Newport 1702-1726.

Books

He had an engraved armorial bookplate: Franks *126, *174 (another impression).

The content and disposition of his library have not been established. There is no reference to books in his will, nor in that of his father, but the library of his grandfather Sir William Morice presumably passed into his possession.
