====Biographical Note====
Of the West Country. BA [[education::Trinity College, Cambridge]] 1550, MA 1553; nothing else is known about him for certain, though the number of medical books in his inventory suggest some involvement with the medical profession.

====Books====
Simpson's probate inventory includes over 90 books, valued at £5 7s 6d (from a total estate valued at just over £60). The books are mostly in [[language::Latin]], with some [[language::Greek]] and [[language::English]], with a predominance of [[subject::medicine]] alongside some [[subject::theology]], [[subject::classics]], and other topics.
