====Biographical Note====
Of [[location::Chicksands Priory, Bedfordshire]], governor of [[location::Guernsey]], [[occupation::MP]] for [[location::Corfe Castle, Dorset]], 1623–4 and 1625. He spent most of his time in [[location::Guernsey]], away from his residence, wife and children in [[location::Chicksands]]. Although [[location::Guernsey]] sided with parliament during the Civil War, Osborne held [[location::Castle Cornet]] there for the king until 1646. He retreated to exile in [[location::St Malo]]. 

====Books====
Although his fortunes were largely ruined after the Civil War, he directed in his will that his library should remain at [[location::Chicksands]] as a family heirloom.
