====Biographical Note====
Matriculated at [[education::Wadham College, Oxford]] 1663, but did not graduate; admitted at the [[organisations::Inner Temple]] 1666.  Possibly an [[occupation::examiner]] in the [[organisations::Court of Chancery]] 1692-99.  Described in his will as "of the [[organisations::Inner Temple]]".

====Books==== 
In his will, Hough [[bequest::bequeathed]] to his [[beneficiary::footman]] [[associates::James Davison]] "all my [[subject::music]] books excepting such as my executors shall be minded to keep to themselves".  Otherwise, the will, which is largely concerned with disposing of various property around [[location::London]], has no mention of books; the residue of his estate was to be [[bequest::divided]] between his executors, his [[beneficiary::sister]] [[family::Ann Methven]], and [[family::Anne Wilson]] alias Carnaby.  His library was sold by [[auction::auction]] in [[location of auction::London]] in [[date of auction::1700]]; the catalogue lists 2077 lots, divided into 1595 miscellaneous in [[language::Latin]] and other languages, 96 [[subject::lexicography|dictionaries]] and [[subject::lexicography|lexicons]] in various languages, 344 [[language::English]] books, and 139 [[subject::law]] books.
