Richard VERNON d.date of death:;1726

=Biographical Note

A member of a long-established gentry family with roots in Cheshire, but branches in many parts of England; Vernon's main residence was at Middlewich, Cheshire, but his will reveals an extensive estate with property elsewhere in Cheshire.

Books

Vernon's library was auctioned in London, beginning 23 March 1730; no catalogues survives, but the sale was advertised in the Daily Post and the Daily Journal as "a collection of law, and other curious and valuable books". In his will, Vernon bequeathed all his books, together with his plate, jewels, pictures and other household goods, to his wife Elizabeth.
