Born at [[place of birth::Horsham]], son of [[family::Richard Middleton]]. BA [[education::Christ's College, Cambridge]] 1653. [[occupation::vicar|Vicar]] of [[location::Cuckfield, Sussex]] 1690, [[occupation::prebendary]] of [[organisations::Ely Cathedral|Ely]] 1699.

====Books====
Middleton [[bequest::bequeathed]] his library of ca.700 books to the son of his brother-in-law [[crossreference::Simon Patrick|Symon Patrick]], on condition that he become a [[occupation::clergyman]] not a [[occupation::lawyer]]; in fact the books were [[bequest::given]] to the [[beneficiary::Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge|SPCK]].
