Vice-chamberlain to Queen Caroline 1735-7; Lord Lieutenant of Huntingdonshire 1739-62; Lord of the bedchamber 1739-61. Succeeded his brother William as 3rd Duke of Manchester in 1739. Books

The content and the disposition of his books are not established, but it seems possible they were absorbed into the family library at Kimbolton Castle, Huntingdonshire.

He used engraved armorial bookplates: Franks 20873 (‘Earl of Manchester Viscount Mandevile and Baron Kimbolton’; a reworking of his father’s plate 20872); 20874 (‘Duke and Earl of Manchester, Viscount Mandevile and Baron Kimbolton’; a modern impression of 20873). Example: Bodleian Library, Arch.B.c.8.
