William ALLOTT d.1670

Biographical Note

A member of a gentry family from Crigglestone, Yorkshire who became a physician in Chesterfield.

Books

Allott inherited medical books from his uncle Robert Allott (d.1642), Linacre Professor of Physick at University of Cambridge; these included devotional books as well as medical ones, "hoping that these books of divinity will further his soules advantage and future felicity". His books were valued for probate at £15; many were bequeathed to his nephew of the same name.
