Biographical Note
Of Milborne, Somerset. BA Wadham College, Oxford 1663, MA 1666, fellow 1667. Principal of Hart Hall 1688; vicar of Southrop, Gloucestershire 1679.

Thornton's library was auctioned in Oxford, 10.11.1707. The sale catalogue contains 1864 lots, divided between Latin theology and miscellaneous (787 lots), English divinity and miscellaneous (885), and "libri omissi" (192).
