Biographical Note

Vicar of Ealing at the time of his death, Lamb may be the author of England happy at home and abroad, a 1707 printed sermon, in which case he was also vicar of Enfield. According to advertisements for his library sale, Lamb was 'celebrated for his knowledge of the Oriental Tongues'.

Books

Part of Lamb's library was sold by retail sale in London from 28 June 1721, alongside the books of a recently deceased barrister. Advertisements for the sale in the Daily Courant and other newspapers describe it as 'Consisting of a valuable Collection of Books in Theological, Philosophical, Mathematical; and Classical Learning, History, Voyages, Travels, Poetry, Biography, Antiquities, Medals, Husbandry, Trade, Civil, Canon, and Common Law; in Greek, Latin, Italian, French, Oriental Languages, and English'.
